“My goal
as a physician and specialist in autoimmune
and inflammatory disorders is to provide
the highest level of competent, comprehensive
diagnosis and treatment possible. My vision
is to always do it with genuine compassion
and dedication.”
A professional and personal commitment
to the highest standard of care.
“When I was a teenager growing
up here in Long Beach, my mother was a vibrant,
active and involved person. She raised her
kids, was involved in the community and
was active in the Civil Rights movement.
But after a trip to Seattle, she came back
with acute rheumatoid arthritis, and her
life was forever changed... to the point
where my dad had to care for all her needs.
Since then, several more of my family members
— sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins,
wife — have had their lives dramatically
altered by rheumatic disease or some other
immune-mediated disorder.
“As a rheumatologist with more than
two decades of experience and as a researcher
of leading-edge treatments, I understand
the medical nature of inflammatory and autoimmune
diseases. But I also understand them on
a personal level. I understand the pain,
the difficulties, the frustrations, the
concerns and anxieties.
“In my quest to be the best rheumatologist
I can be, I find it exciting to practice
at a time when modern capabilities permit
us to truly treat the disease process. Today’s
treatments are significantly better than
ever before, and that is ideal for my sense
of responsibility to doing what’s
best for you and for the people I love.” |
